Cedar, ice, and the morning sun. The plunge that finally looks right on the porch.
The Barrel Chiller Cold Therapy Package is the chilling system Penguin built specifically for cedar barrel plunge setups. 7,500 BTU/hr of cooling in a compact, quiet (56 dBA) chassis that pairs cleanly with the natural wood aesthetic of a barrel tub. Built-in pump, quick-connect fittings, washable filter, and a temperature range from 37°F all the way up to 100°F if you want to warm-soak instead.
Cedar barrel plunges are the look — warm wood, copper bands, mist rising off the water at dawn. The Penguin barrel chiller is the function that turns the look into a daily ritual instead of a Saturday novelty. Same titanium coil, same Made-in-Knoxville build, in a smaller form factor sized to live next to a barrel without crowding it.

Who this is for
- Buyers who want their cold plunge to feel like part of the home — cedar, copper, natural materials.
- Outdoor-installation households: covered patios, three-season rooms, garage wellness corners.
- Couples or households where the visual presence of the plunge matters as much as the function.
- Buyers who want optional heat capability (37°F all the way up to 100°F) for warm-soak nights.
- Anyone whose harder-living years are catching up and who'd rather not negotiate their next twenty-five for them.
Who it's not for
- Buyers who'd rather pair this chiller with a plastic, fiberglass, or stainless tub — the standalone Cold Therapy Chiller is the better pick for those builds.
- Indoor wellness rooms where space is tight and the chiller needs to be hidden — the barrel chiller is sized to sit beside the barrel.
- Buyers who want the biggest possible cooling capacity for oversized tubs — this is the compact 7,500 BTU unit, sized for a typical barrel.
- Outdoor installs in climates that drop below 32°F year-round without enclosure.
What you get
- A 7,500 BTU/hr cooling capacity that pulls water to 37°F and holds it — same engine class as the flagship chiller.
- Heat capability up to 100°F — same unit handles warm-soaks, contrast therapy, and post-workout warm finishes.
- Built-in circulation pump and quick-connect hoses and fittings — no separate pump, no plumbing work.
- A 150-micron washable filter (reusable) — easy weekly rinse, no recurring filter spend.
- A compact 17" × 15" × 13" chassis at 49 lbs — sized to sit beside a barrel without dominating the visual.
- 56 dBA operating volume — quiet enough for a morning plunge while the household is still asleep.
- Outdoor-rated and rainproof — designed for covered patios and three-season rooms.
- Designed and manufactured in Knoxville, Tennessee.

How it compares
The Barrel Chiller Cold Therapy Package is our pick when the cedar-barrel aesthetic matters and you want a chiller sized to match. Here's how to think about it:
vs. Cold Therapy Chiller (standalone) — The standalone chiller is the same 7,500 BTU class but in a chassis sized and styled for general tub setups (plastic, fiberglass, stock tank). Choose the barrel package if cedar barrels are the plan; choose the standalone for any other tub type.
vs. Cold Therapy & Tub Combo — The combo bundles a non-barrel tub matched to the standalone chiller. Choose the combo for the easiest turn-key path; choose the barrel package if the cedar aesthetic is the goal.
vs. premium consumer brands (Plunge, Morozko, Sun Home) — Designer brands at $5,000–$15,000 deliver a polished single-piece product. The Penguin barrel package paired with a $400–$1,200 cedar barrel comes in at half to a third of the price, with industrial-grade cooling and a more characterful look.
vs. cold plunge studios — A typical cold plunge studio session runs $40–$70. The barrel package plus a sourced cedar barrel ($400–$1,200) pays itself back in roughly 8–14 months at five sessions a week — and the warm-soak capability extends the use case.
Your protection & logistics
Warranty
One-year limited manufacturer warranty from Penguin Chillers, made in Knoxville, Tennessee. Extended 2-year and 3-year warranties available at point of sale (priced per model — your Wellness Concierge quotes the exact figure with your order). Penguin administers all claims; we coordinate and resolve on your behalf.
Shipping & lead time
Free shipping to the 48 contiguous states via UPS, covered by Penguin. East-coast addresses typically arrive in 1–3 business days; west-coast in approximately 5 business days. Tracking is sent the moment your order ships. Alaska / Hawaii shipping is quoted separately by your Wellness Concierge.
Installation
Self-install — every Penguin chiller ships with kit-specific step-by-step setup guides and the owner's manual. Customers using Penguin's pre-approved standard kit configurations do not need to submit setup photos. For custom installations (e.g., integrating a chiller into a non-standard tub or build), photos and system details are submitted to Penguin's tech team before use to validate warranty coverage — your Wellness Concierge handles that submission for you.
Returns
Standard stock chillers are eligible for return within 21 days, subject to pre-approval and a 20% restocking fee; return shipping is the customer's responsibility, direct to Penguin in Tennessee. Custom-ordered units are non-returnable. Cancellations within lead time are subject to a 3% fee. We work with you upfront to confirm the right HP, coil, and configuration so a return is rarely needed.

Frequently asked questions
Where can I put this — indoor or outdoor?
Both. The chiller is rainproof and rated for outdoor use above freezing (32°F). Most clients install on a covered porch, in a garage, or in a basement wellness room. Indoor installs are easiest because the chiller pulls heat off the water and exhausts it — outdoor installs handle that for free.
Does the barrel tub come with this package?
No — the package is the chiller system designed to work with a barrel tub. We can source a matching cedar barrel for you on request; many clients also pair this chiller with a barrel they've already sourced or built. Reach out if you'd like a barrel recommendation in your size and budget.
Do I need an electrician?
No. The chiller runs on a standard 110–120V 15-amp household outlet — same as a refrigerator. No special wiring, no permits, no panel upgrades. Most setups are running on a single extension cord within an hour of unboxing.
How cold does it actually get, and how fast?
Down to 37°F (about 3°C). From room-temperature tap water, you're at full plunge temp within 8–14 hours depending on tub volume. Once you're at temperature, the chiller cycles to hold it — your morning plunge is the same every day.
How do I keep the water clean?
Three things: the included filter, a chlorinating kit (we sell one for $39.99) or ozone, and a simple weekly rinse routine. At 37°F, bacteria growth is dramatically slowed — water lasts 4–8 weeks between full changes for most home users. We can talk you through the routine when you order.
How loud is it?
About 56 dBA — comparable to a quiet dishwasher or a window AC unit on low. You can install it next to a bedroom wall and it won't wake anyone up; most clients run their plunge first thing in the morning while the household is still asleep.
What's the warranty?
1-year manufacturer warranty included on every chiller, with 2-year and 3-year extended options available at checkout. Penguin Chillers administers all warranty service directly from their Knoxville, TN facility. We act as your single point of contact through InfraCore's concierge line.
How long does delivery take?

From the founder
I built InfraCore because I needed it.
Two devastating knee injuries and multiple ankle injuries before I left high school gave me twenty-five years of compounding consequences — chronic pain, multiple surgeries, mobility I was working hard to keep. Cold therapy is one of the most consistent inflammation tools in the entire recovery stack, and Penguin's chillers are what I'd buy when it's time to put cold plunge in the corner of the wellness room.
If you're building the kind of wellness corner you'd want to wake up to — warm wood, mist on the water, the chiller running quietly beside it — this is the package that makes it work without compromising the look. Made in the US, quiet enough for a porch install, and capable of warm soaks too.
