Find out which half you need.
Two questions — what you already have, and who uses it.
Water chillers and glycol chillers are not interchangeable
A water chiller cools plunge water directly and bottoms out around 37°F. A glycol chiller circulates a glycol and water mixture to reach 28°F and, per Penguin's own product pages, is not used for chilling plunge water directly.
Glycol units are listed in their own collection rather than here, so a sub-freezing loop chiller is never mistaken for a plunge chiller. If you are outfitting something other than a plunge, that is where to look.
What the research actually says
Our view at InfraCore: cold water immersion and whole-body cryotherapy are studied separately and should be described separately, and we would rather send you to the evidence than summarise it in a sentence on a product page.
Our Wellness Library covers it directly: The Cold Case — What Cryotherapy Chambers and Cold Plunges Actually Do to the Body, Cold Plunge vs. Cryotherapy, and Contrast Therapy: How Hot and Cold Work Together.
How to size a chiller
Our view at InfraCore: capacity cannot be read off the tub size alone. Water volume, room temperature and how well the tub is insulated all move the answer, and Penguin does not publish a gallons-to-BTU chart we could hand you.
So we do not guess at it. Tell us the tub and we will confirm the model before you order — and if the one you picked is wrong for it, we will say so. The Cold Plunge Finder narrows it to a shortlist in two questions.
What every cold plunge here includes
Free freight shipping within the continental US. Direct concierge support before and after purchase. Every unit runs on a standard 110–120V household outlet, so nothing here requires a subpanel install to switch on.
