Water Chillers

Direct-water chillers circulate chilled water into your tub and hold it at a true 37°F. All units from Penguin Chillers, manufactured in Knoxville, Tennessee, from 1/2 HP residential through 5.0 Ton commercial. Titanium coils, chosen for corrosion resistance against plunge chemistry; standard 110–120V household outlet.

This is the chiller type used to cool a cold plunge. Glycol chillers are a different product for sub-freezing loop applications.

Why we confirm the model with you before you order

There is no gallons-to-horsepower chart, and Penguin deliberately does not publish one — not to be unhelpful, but because water volume alone does not decide it. Their support team named what does:

• How well the tub is insulated
• Whether it sits in-ground or above ground
• Ambient ground and air temperature where you live
• Exposure to sunlight
• The chiller's access to good airflow
• The depth of the water
• Heat load — how many people enter the water, and how often
• The set temperature you actually want to hold

Penguin sizes these case by case with their own customers, sometimes across several emails, calls and photographs of the install. We work the same way, and we ask them directly when a build is unusual — Penguin has confirmed they will take sizing questions from our concierge team.
